Exactly two years ago today myself and three of our Trustees held a meeting and from that meeting we now have Helping Homeless Veterans UK which is now a Registered Charity (1195521). You may ask what have we achieved in this time so here is a brief example.
To date we have helped 158 Veterans who have reached out to us and had the courage to ask for help
That is it in a nutshell. That is what we were set up to achieve and that is exactly what we do day in and day out. We have been recognised for our work in the House of Commons and by Front Bench MPs from all Political Parties. The MOD have thanked us personally for our tireless work on many occasions and we are working very closely with these people to try and make change. We worked throughout Covid-19 and even when we came down with Covid-19 ourselves we were still there providing support and help for our Veterans. We have appeared on TV news programs and many radio interviews have been carried out by ourselves. We have featured in local and national newspapers with so much praise for the work we are carrying out. We Have received grants totalling well over £100,000 from major organisations towards projects that will benefit our Veterans. We now have our safe and secure HQ which provides a relaxing environment for visitors as well as the best coffee, cakes and hot food you could ask for provided by Rivos Hub. We have our own Storage Area and our very own Sign Written Van which was donated to ourselves and the Signwriting was provided and paid for by dedicated Corporate Sponsors. We have planning permission for our own property containing six individual flatlets to use as temporary accommodation for our Veterans until we can move them into permanent accommodation which cuts down our costs dramatically on hotels. We have our amazing team of Volunteers who don't take a penny from the public donations and solely carry out the work that they do because they are passionate about helping our veterans. But most importantly we have our Supporters. Forgetting about the trolls and the haters we have our Supporters and they are what is most important to ourselves. Without the Publics support we would not exist. So that's our first two years complete and I wonder where we will be in the next two years.
